Joy in every day

Our Activity and Lifestyle Facilitators (ALFs) help make every day meaningful and full of joy.

They take time to get to know each resident, discovering hobbies, interests, and favourite pastimes. No matter the resident’s ability, ALFs ensure there is something for everyone, tailoring activities so everyone can take part and feel included. From small moments of fun to exciting events, they help residents feel valued, connected, and part of the vibrant life in every home.

Keeping minds, bodies, and purpose active

Our ALFs organise a wide range of activities to keep residents’ minds and bodies engaged.

Cognitive activities like quizzes, puzzles, arts, and crafts support mental sharpness, while gentle exercises, chair-based workouts, and guided walks encourage movement and balance. Some activities are 1-to-1, others run in smaller groups, and many residents enjoy purposeful activities, such as helping around the home with light tasks, folding laundry, light gardening, or delivering post. These give residents a sense of independence, contribution, and pride.

A little extra oomph

A little extra oomph!

Exercise and wellbeing play an important role in helping our residents stay happy, healthy and active.

That’s why we work with Oomph! Wellness, a specialist organisation that creates fun and inclusive wellbeing programmes for older people. Through this partnership, our team members receive training and ideas to help them deliver engaging activities that support physical health, boost mood and encourage social connection, ensuring residents have enjoyable ways to stay active and involved.

Fun, friendship, and laughter

Mealtimes, group sessions, and themed events are social moments full of laughter and connection.

Residents enjoy singing, baking, arts and crafts, and getting involved with entertainers or local performers. Special themed days, music sessions, or seasonal celebrations bring everyone together and foster friendships. Monthly schedules of activities and trips are shared with residents and relatives, so everyone knows what’s coming up and can join in if they wish. By offering a mix of 1-to-1, small group, and larger activities, ALFs make sure every resident has the opportunity to take part, have fun, and create happy memories.

Trips, memories and colourful experiences

Life at Borough Care isn’t just within the home walls.

Our ALFs organise trips to local parks, shops, museums, and gardens, giving residents fresh experiences and opportunities to explore. Reminiscence activities using music, photos, and storytelling help spark memories and conversation. From 1-to-1 sessions to small groups, every moment is designed so residents can enjoy it at their own pace. Together, these experiences bring joy, connection, and a sense of colour to everyday life, supporting our Life in Colour philosophy.
