Take a look back at 2022 at Bamford Close

Bamford Close have had a brilliant year, with Manager Deborah, ALF Joanne and everyone at the home working so hard to ensure their residents live Life in Colour every day! Thank you to everyone at Bamford for the exceptional care you gave residents this year, and every year. Let’s take a look back at 2022 at Bamford Close…

In February, Bamford residents showed their support for those in Ukraine who have been affected by the ongoing Russian invasion. They each created their own Ukrainian flag posters with messages of support written on them.

The staff and residents and Bamford Close had lots of fun for St Patrick’s Day in March! They coloured in Irish-themed pictures, ate delicious Guinness cake and had loads of fun taking silly photos with their Irish props!

We had some beautiful weather in May, and Bamford Close residents made the most of the beautiful sunshine by spending time in the garden. Staff and residents worked together to plant some stunning flowers in the garden.

Our care homes went all out to celebrate her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June. Everything from luxury buffets to garden parties were in full swing across our homes to mark the very special occasion. Decorating their home for the Jubilee was top of the list at Bamford, and residents and staff spent a day decorating a massive cake in honour of the Queen. To make the most of the festivities, they even had a fabulous balloon display delivered by Annabelle and her team and ‘Meghan and Harry’ made an appearance!

For National Chocolate Day in June,  Bamford Close made Oompa Loompa-inspired chocolate lollies. The Bamford team even dressed up in full costume. They had so much fun and lots of chocolate, and all the residents thought it was hilarious!

In July Bamford Close residents enjoyed getting their fitness in by doing a dance-along with the staff. Resident Sarah even took over the class and ended up guiding everyone through the exercises!

Bamford Close celebrated David’s 70th birthday in August. To make the occasion extra special, the team invited all of David’s loved ones to the home to celebrate with him. The team put together a lovely buffet and invited Elvis to come and help everyone celebrate in true rock n roll style.

In September, Bamford Close staff and residents got all dressed up to have their very own Disney day this month. Everyone threw on their favourite Disney costumes and painted their faces with glitter before sitting down to watch some live entertainment from Sam the performer.

October saw Borough Care celebrate our Life in Colour Employee Awards. We all got together at the Alma Lodge Hotel in Stockport for a huge awards ceremony in celebration of the incredible work that our team have all done over the last year. Bamford Care Assistant Doulton Hamill picked up the Precious Gem Award for going above and beyond, no matter the time or circumstances. Anita Case, Senior Night Carer at Bamford, picked up an Outstanding Colourful Care Award for providing exceptional individualised care to residents and making them smile the most. Residents and staff agreed both were very worthy winners!

Halloween is always a big event at Borough Care and the staff and residents had a brilliant time getting ready with arts and crafts. Bamford Close threw a spectacularly spooky Halloween Party with all of the team, residents, and their loved ones getting into the swing of things with their costumes. How fabulous are those goody bags!

We celebrated some amazing milestones in November, including a very special 100th birthday. That’s right, Bamford resident Betty marked her 100th birthday! She received her special card from King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla and joked ‘I knew he always fancied me!’ when she opened it.

Now, with the home all set for Christmas, staff, residents and families are looking forward to spending lots of time together. To finish off the year, ALF Joanne took some residents to Stockport Plaza to see Cinderella. Everyone had a wonderful time getting into the Christmas spirit!
