What a wonderful year Wellcroft have had! The team worked really hard to ensure so many Life in Colour moments for residents and their families. We want to say a big thank you to everyone at Wellcroft – let’s take a look back at some of their highlights of 2022!
Staff and residents at Wellcroft had lots of fun in March singing, dancing, eating cake and raising money for Comic Relief: Red Nose Day to support projects in the UK and around the world!
There was a lovely moment at Wellcroft in May as resident Mr Hardman and his wife danced to the same song that played at their wedding, which took place 52 years ago that day!
In July, Wellcroft staff and residents spent some time in the sunshine. They planted their own plants and some seeds – everyone is looking forward to seeing them bloom! The ice cream van made a stop afterwards and everyone enjoyed a delicious treat
Wellcroft had lovely time with residents and families for Afternoon Tea Week in August. It was so nice for everyone to get together and enjoy some fab food by cook Lydia, and entertainment from a magician! Wellcroft’s families said it was a fantastic afternoon.
Wellcroft resident Dora celebrated her 100th Birthday in August! She had an afternoon tea and then spent some time with her family, before enjoying an afterparty featuring entertainment with the lovely Adam and Lisa. Borough Care’s catering team members Denise and Tony created an amazing buffet for everyone too.
Wellcroft’s ALF Jade and resident Eddie went on a lovely morning walk in September – they passed a park and Eddie decided he wanted to have a go on the swings! The two then went for a lovely breakfast, all finished off with some cake and coffee.
Wellcroft soaked up the last bit of Summer sun at Blackpool Zoo in September. They saw the first half of the zoo before stopping for lunch at the cafe, and then on to the second half! They loved seeing the giraffes, elephants, zebras and so much more. Residents and staff rounded off the day with a lovely cup of tea and ice-cream.
Wellcroft have had an amazing week making their own decorations, all set for Halloween in October! The residents carved their own spooky pumpkins and were joined by their families for a party this morning, complete with a delicious Halloween buffet!
Also in October Wellcroft staff Simranjeet, Jisha and Jade arranged a beautiful event to celebrate Diwali with fellow staff and residents. Diwali is the five-day Festival of Lights celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Staff and residents had a wonderful time learning about the different traditions, festivities and food that are enjoyed during Diwali. Thank you Simranjeet, Jisha and Jade for such an amazing event
Wellcroft had a lovely day out at the cinema in Stockport to watch Calamity Jane in November. Clarry and Eddie sang all the way home, while John was surprised how good the popcorn was as he hadn’t had any for years! They had the best day and can’t wait to go again.
Wellcroft staff and residents went to Dobbies Garden Centre to see all the lovely Christmas trees and decorations. They even had Christmas dinner and some mulled wine. ALF Jade said it was a very special day as some of the residents that came often struggle with going outside of the home. Gardening was always something they all loved to do, so it was a joy to see how happy they were in this environment!
This week, everyone has really enjoyed making cards, dancing, going to carol services and decorating the home. There’s been plenty of Christmas sing a-longs, with the residents really getting into the festive spirit this year! Happy Christmas from Wellcroft!
