The festivities continued across a few of our homes this week, with residents designing some handmade crafts to decorate our homes. It really is starting to feel like Christmas here at Borough Care! Shall we have a look at what residents have been up to this week?
Welcome to Santa’s Workshop!
The Bryn Haven bunch have certainly been getting into the Christmas spirit this week as they’ve been working on some festive decorations! With the help of the ALFs and care staff, residents have been creating crafts for the Christmas season and their awards party. They’ve been designing some beautiful wooden ornaments that will take centre stage on the home’s Christmas tree this year!
Christmas crafts
The festivities don’t end there, though! Residents and staff at Bryn Haven have also been spending their mornings making paper chains and sharing stories with each other. For residents that find it particularly difficult to express themselves, we’ve found that arts and crafts are a great way to help them communicate in a visual way. It was lovely to see how the crafts helped the residents recall and share memories of making decorations with their families.
Counting down to Christmas
Silverdale joined in on the festive fun by having their very own Christmas decoration day! The residents enjoyed helping the ALFs to put up their Christmas tree and singing some Christmas carols at the top of their voices. They even have their own advent calendar! Every day, one of the residents gets the chance to open the calendar and see what treat is behind it.
80th birthday celebrations
Lisburne Court celebrated resident Maureen’s 80th birthday this week! The residents all gathered together to mark the occasion and enjoyed a delicious slice of birthday cake and a sing-along. It looks like it was a lot of fun!
Bye for now
It’s been brilliant to see residents get involved in fun activities, and show their individual personalities this week. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! To keep up to date with the latest news from our homes, make sure to follow Borough Care on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
