Wellcroft resident Jimmy, who is 92, has been a huge fan of Manchester City Football Club all his life.
Man City have a rich and colourful winning history which Jimmy has followed since he was younger. Jimmy has always kept up with what’s going on with the team, and he loves when daughter Alison, who visits every few days, comes in to chat to dad about the latest Man City news.
Activity Lifestyle Facilitator, Jade knew Jimmy’s birthday was coming up, and had a chat with Alison and Jimmy about what they might like to do to mark his 92nd year. Jimmy asked to visit Etihad Stadium, the home of Man City. The stadium has a capacity of 55,000, making it the 6th-largest football stadium in England and tenth-largest in the United Kingdom!
Jade booked a Reminicity Walk – a 70 minute tour around the Etihad Stadium. These tours are tailored to support those with dementia. The trio got to visit key areas of the stadium including the Home Team Dressing Room, Pitchside and Press Conference Areas.
Alison and Jimmy said that the smiles on their faces show just how much the trip meant to them, and what an amazing day it was. They made some really special memories together – made even more special after such a big win for City 5-1 last Wednesday night!
This year’s FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City, taking place on Saturday June 3rd, could be one of the most memorable in recent years. Jimmy is so excited, and will be attending a BBQ with his son to watch the game.
