Meet the Team at Shoemaker Place

Shoemaker Place is our brand new modern care home set in the lovely market town of Stone, Staffordshire. Created with luxury living in mind, Shoemaker Place provides residents with the highest quality of care in the beautiful setting of Stone.

The home welcomed its first residents this week, and we sat down with its new team to find out what they’re most looking forward to at Shoemaker Place.

Paul, Commissioning Manager

“I initially worked with young adults and children with learning and physical disabilities before working with older people. I have been in the Health and Social Care industry for 43 years and spent the last 15 years Commissioning Retirement Villages and Residential homes. I love working at Borough Care as Commissioning Manager as I get to meet new staff and residents and work in beautiful luxury residential homes.”

Jess, Deputy Manager

“I started as a healthcare support worker and worked my way up through senior, team leader and now deputy over the space of 14 years. My favourite thing about Shoemaker Place is the home itself, and of course the beautiful surroundings. I wanted to work for Borough Care due to the excellent training prospects and because it is a company that looks after its staff and residents. I am really looking forward to caring for our residents and staff, and progressing my career at Borough Care.”

Alex, Activities & Lifestyle Facilitator

“I have worked in care for over 20 years, and have experience in event management, activity planning and coordinating care. I am really impressed by the friendly staff team at Shoemaker Place, and the way the staff are respected by management. When I saw the job advertised, the statement at the end of the job description said ‘To constantly ask yourself “Am I supporting this resident the same way I would want my loved one to be treated?” That meant everything to me, and that is why I chose to work for Borough Care.”

Ogbonna, Senior Night Care Assistant

“I have worked in residential care (mainly people living with dementia), supported living housing people with learning disabilities and adult/children mental health support for 10 years.  The vision and values of Borough Care align with my own values of supporting and empowering residents to achieve independent and fulfilled lives as much as possible, while respecting their choices, rights, and dignity.  The staff at Shoemaker Place are perfectly blended, working as a motivated team under the leadership of Commissioning Manager, Paul. I am looking forward to achieving high quality and safe care for all residents at Shoemaker Place.”

Elizabeth, Carer

“So far, the staff are my favourite thing about Shoemaker Place, and the care home itself is outstanding. I have worked in care, but I have not worked in a care home for a few years, as I took care of my dad who passed away with cancer. I also looked after a family member with dementia. I am looking forward to working with and progressing my career at Borough Care.”

Kesia, Care Assistant

So far, my favourite thing about Shoemaker Place is making new friends and spending time with the residents. I am really excited about entertaining the residents and getting to know them.”

Charlotte, Carer

I have worked in care for four years, and I am passionate about furthering  my career, so I chose to seek a role with Borough Care. I am really looking forward to meeting and learning more about the residents at Shoemaker Place.”

Jane, Housekeeper

I have worked for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) as a housekeeper for over 15 years. With Shoemaker Place, I love the beautiful new home and the team here. This is a new challenge for me, and it is close to home, that is why I chose to work for Borough Care. I cannot wait to meet all our residents here at Shoemaker Place.

Jacqueline, Senior Day Care Assistant

“I have over 30 years experience in management and caring, working with those living with learning difficulties, autism, physical disabilities, and special needs. I have also worked with those requiring dementia care, and End of Life care. My favourite thing about Shoemaker Place is the building and the excitement of opening a new home. With Borough Care, I love that there is a development program for employees. I am most excited about doing what I love to do – care – and to give individuals a brilliant quality of life.”

Jack, Care Assistant

“I was looking for a new challenge in the care sector, and I heard good things about Borough Care as an organisation. What I love about Shoemaker Place is how supportive the management has been, and the whole staff team in general! I am looking forward to starting my first shift here at Shoemaker Place.”

Aimee, Night Care Assistant

“I have worked in care for over 11 years, with eight of those being within the NHS. I applied for the job here as the Borough Care team seems great. Shoemaker Place is a  brand new building, and I love how light and bright the home is. I am most looking forward to taking care of the residents and meeting their needs.”

Judith, Carer

“I have almost two years’ experience working in Adult Care, and three years’ experience working in childcare.  I have cared for adults in the community and these skills are transferable into a care home setting. What I love about Shoemaker Place is that it’s very homely and staff are so friendly. I am looking forward to making the residents here very happy.”
