One of our care homes recently celebrated its longest serving colleague, as carer Patricia ‘Pat’ Roche marked fifty years at Cawood House!
Pat, who is 75, still works full time and is a highly respected member of the team. Cawood House, our 42-bed care home in Brinnington, laid on a special afternoon event to mark the occasion, showering Pat with flowers, gifts, a buffet and a beautiful cake. Staff and residents toasted Pat’s incredible five decades at the home, before dancing the evening way together.
Speaking at the event, Pat said “Fifty years have flown by. I live five minutes walk away and everyone I work with are neighbors and friends. They aren’t strangers – some of the residents are even old friends! One resident, who we now care for, worked alongside me at Cawood house for over twenty years. Cawood feels like my own home and I think that is why I have been here for so long. They are my family.”
Borough Care’s CEO, Dr Mark Ward said, “To celebrate fifty years working in care is an amazing achievement, but to have done it all within the same care home is truly extraordinary. Age is never a barrier to a career in care and we are thrilled to see Pat continuing to provide exceptional care to residents at Cawood.”
